GUATEMALA — Finca El Mirador, Huehuetenango | CLASSIC

from $25.00

Red cherry · Chocolate · Hazelnut · Nougat

Plant/Variety: Caturra
Place: Finca El Mirador, Andrés Morales Sales, Aldea Tomiche, San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán, Huehuetenango
Process: Washed
Vibe: Classic
Profile: Red cherry, chocolate, hazelnut & nougat

Finca El Mirador is six hectares in the highlands of Aldea Tomiche, Huehuetenango, named for the view: from the farm, the land opens out across a beautiful valley below.

Andrés Morales Sales has dedicated 35 years to coffee, the last three focused on specialty. He manages the farm with his wife, María Guadalupe Sales, and it began with a simple idea: after seeing the beauty of the work on a large farm, he brought seeds home to grow coffee in his own community. Together they’ve lengthened fermentation to 72 hours and moved from drying on nylon to raised beds, where the coffee now dries slowly over eight days beneath native pines and palo negro trees. Next, he hopes to expand his coffee plantings.

A sweet, rounded cup, with red cherry brightness settling into chocolate, hazelnut and soft nougat.

This coffee has been imported by our partners at Caravela Coffee.
